Introduction

Keel ("we", "our", or "us") is a habit tracking application designed with your privacy in mind. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Keel mobile app and related services.

Information We Collect

Account Data: If you choose to create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may also use the app anonymously without providing any personal information.

Habit Data: The habits you create, goals you set, and completion logs you record are stored to provide the core functionality of the app. This data is created by you and stored on your device first, then optionally synced to our servers.

Authentication Data: If you sign in with Apple or email, we receive the credentials necessary to authenticate your account. We do not store passwords in plain text.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Keel app and its features
  • To sync your habit data across devices when you choose to create an account
  • To authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • To improve and optimize the app experience

Data Storage & Security

Keel follows a local-first approach. Your data is stored on your device and only synced to our servers when you have an active internet connection and a linked account. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored securely in our database.

Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may use third-party infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting) to operate our services, and these providers are bound by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, all data stored on our servers is permanently removed. Data stored locally on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.

Children's Privacy

Keel is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
